The planning and design of the Wiluna mine has been a collaborative process with key stakeholders since Toro became active in the Wiluna region in 2007.
Toro consults with a wide range of individuals and organisations to identify concerns and solutions, all of which have been included in the planning of the Wiluna mine. Toro is particularly keen to ensure local and regional communities benefit from the project.
Toro is committed to respecting Aboriginal culture and cultural heritage, and to providing business development and employment opportunities for people within the Wiluna region. As a key stakeholder group, Toro has supported the Wiluna Aboriginal community through regular meetings with Traditional Owners (TOs) and by providing funding so that the community could seek independent advice on radiation and the environment.
Community collaboration is a key component of Toro’s Wiluna mine planning, and this consultative and inclusive model will continue for the life of the mine, and the rehabilitation and monitoring that follows.
