Toro’s primary goal is for our employees, contractors, and the community to be safe and well at all times. We achieve this by thinking safety and living safety every time we take an action.
Toro currently has a low risk profile in relation to the health, safety and wellbeing of our people as our activities are low level and completed during short-term campaigns of field work.
Our comprehensive Health, Safety and Environment (HSE) Management System covers all exploration and project development activities. The system identifies each individual’s responsibilities including our site visitors and incorporates the HSE obligations and legal compliance requirements covered by relevant Commonwealth, State and Territory Acts, Regulations, Standards and Codes of Practice.
Toro has adopted international standards as the basis for its radiation management system and complies with all applicable legislation and regulations.
Toro’s radiation management plan, protection philosophy and approach is based on the internationally-accepted recommendations of the International Commission on Radiological Protection (ICRP) and the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA). Radiation protection is managed through state and territory based legislation and the Australian Radiation Protection and Nuclear Safety Agency’s (ARPANSA) series of related Codes of Practice.
Toro keep all radiation exposures to people and the environment as low as reasonably achievable, following the best practice ALARA principle established by the ICRP. Our Wiluna Radiation Management Plan has been accepted by the WA Department of Mines and Petroleum and the WA Radiological Council for activities in the field.
